Denver to Boulder

Arrived in Denver to a heat wave. They had snow on the ground last week, but it is in the high 20's now. It is a magnificent city, extremely clean and well kept. The backdrop of the green foothills with the snow covered Rockies behind is magic. We travelled to Boulder this morning and spent some time roaming around this delightful small town and visiting Into the Wind which is where we buy many of our kites from.

Interesting sights

Mary Selby Gardens at Sarasota

Beautiful gardens specialising in epiphytes and located on the edge of the harbour.

Everglades City to Sarasota

After a late lunch in Everglades City (population approx 500) we decided to spend the night in Sarasota as Duffy's kennel name was Sarasota Glengarry. This proved to be a good decision as it was a very lush city with lots of lovely beaches and fabulous botanic gardens.

Big Cyprus Gallery

As we travelled across the top of the Everglades the vegetation changed from sawgrass to cypress and was lush, tall and green. At the convergence of some rivers we came across the Clyde Butcher gallery - he photographs wilderness throughout the states and they were superb.

Airboat and Everglades

Left the southern end of the Everglades and headed north west to investigate the other entrances. We stopped for an airboat ride along the way and Graham reminded me of Duffy in the car (minus the floppy ears) as he squinted against the wind. After a stop to look at the blue crane the boat refused to start and we had to swap onto a new boat sent out.

I spotted my first woodpecker.
